Program Details
Our program is for young women with a strong desire to bring about change in their lives. Each young woman must have a willing heart to come and participate fully in the program.
Our goal is a home where young women encounter unconditional love, hope for a better life, and God's merciful kindness, sometimes for the very first time. Our home staff use their experience and qualifications to help each girl restore hope and stability to her life.
Counselling
Mercy Ministries International formalized its Christian-based counseling curriculum in June 2008. This curriculum is now used in all Mercy Ministries homes throughout the world. It is called “Choices That Bring Change” and helps young women work through a counseling process that explores issues of faith, forgiveness, family, overcoming abuse and past hurts, and general life principles.
In addition to individual counseling, residents also participate in group counseling on a weekly basis. This counseling curriculum is the result of Mercy Ministries’ nearly three decades of working with young women in crisis and combines biblical principles of healing and unconditional love with best-practice clinical interventions.
As a Christian organization, Mercy Ministries believes that
spiritual warfare is real and that prayer plays an important role in
healing and spiritual growth. Mercy Ministries does not perform or
endorse exorcisms as part of its treatment curriculum. Our emphasis is
on the power of God’s grace and unconditional love to help hurting
young women overcome addictions and past hurts. View our statement of
faith.
The Director of Counseling at Mercy Ministries Canada has a masters degree and under her supervision experienced counselors are required to have at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field. Mercy Ministries of Canada counselors meet or exceed provincial licensing requirements.
Our Canadian Home
Our first Canadian Mercy Ministries Home is located in beautiful South Surrey, British Columbia. A lovely rancher set on 4.3 acres in a tranquil, rural setting surrounded by farms and equestrian properties, it accommodates 20 young women. So many of the young women who come to Mercy Ministries are incredibly creative and so to reflect and celebrate their creatively, the interior design plan is chic and modern where every detail has been seen as an opportunity to communicate value, worth and love. Truly an amazing space for amazing young women! Mercy Ministries of Canada opened their doors in late summer 2010.
